swwWith the holidays behind us, all eyes have turned to SolidWorks World 2009 in Orlando. In 34 days, I will be attending my very first SolidWorks World and I am excited to be able to represent The SolidWorks Geek blog and the SolidWorks Geeks community site. In addition to be able to sit in on some awesome presentations and other events, I am extremely excited to meet other SolidWorks Geeks for the first time.

Since I started The SolidWorks Geek and SolidWorks Geeks, I have met some amazing people in the community. I have been honored to be accepted into the ranks of other bloggers, like Jeff Mirisola, Josh Mings, Mike Puckett, Ricky Jordan, Matt Lombard, Gabi Jack and many more. About 7 months ago I was reading these blogs daily and today I consider them all friends. That is one reason why I am extremely excited about SolidWorks World. I will finally be able to see my new friends face to face, many for the first time. But to be fair, the main reason I am excited about going is you…the reader.

Since I have started blogging, my readers have been the driving force behind the site. I cannot recall how many times, in the beginning of the site, I was feeling discouraged. Then I started receiving emails from readers all over the world. Everyone was so grateful for the information I shared and the messages were an awesome pick-me-up. Without all of you, who knows if the site would have made it past the hardest first month. That is why I am excited about being able to meet as many of you as possible at SolidWorks World.

What I wanted to do today was to hear from you. In the comments section, let me know if you are planning on going to SolidWorks World. I would love to hear what you are excited about seeing or hearing. If you aren’t going, I would love to hear why. Sound off people… I am listening. :)

  • I will be presenting to the educational community on Monday. I will be sharing ideas on how to use SolidWorks to compliment a Lecture course Design For Manufacturing. Topics will be a revamped Mountain Board Project with Material/MFG process selection. Preparing models based on the guidelines for the chosen mfg process to ensure model dimensions can be used in the 2D Drawing. We use the DFMXpert to validate our designs against the the DFMXpert guideline checklist. If things are flagged can we back up our design to justify the break from the guidelines. So on and so on.
  • I'll be there, arriving Saturday afternoon. Will be nice to meet to see everyone again and meet some of y'all face to face!
  • Master Corpral Eadie reporting SIR! Here is what I love about SWW you can talk and not have to dumb down or explain yourself cause all the people there understand what you are saying unlike owners, salesmen.... If you say You are having mating issues you dont get some strange look, someone will pipe up and suggest solutions that dont include leather :)

Beyond that the free food and drink. Friends from around the world and some great learning is had there.

Finally I will get to meet the latest JB target. Cant wait to see you all there

  • I figure to stop in and say hi. I am looking forward to the CSWP event, building the roller coaster thingies. Who can go wrong there?

I am presenting Monday morning, a very good thing -so I can get it over with, then enjoy the rest of the show.

My favorite part of SWW is always the last day when they preview what may go into the next release of SW. THAT'S my Christmas morning!

I'm heading to SWW, and I can't wait to meet you and the rest of the SolidWorks Twitter Crew. I really enjoy your Drafting Standards Posts, you don't know how long I've looked for in-depth explenations to the ANSI standards.
  • Hi Daniel,

Itz good to hear that you will be joining us at SWW. It would be nice to sit down and talk to as many readers while I am there.

Also, it looks like I will be starting Standards Wednesday again soon. Just not as frequent.
